A prop firm hedge bot is not an EA that passes the challenge while you sleep. It is software that watches the evaluation you already trade and opens the opposite position on your personal MT4 or MT5, at a lot sized to the challenge cost rather than to the virtual $50,000.
If the prop account hits maximum drawdown, the hedge on your own broker is sized so the challenge fee is designed to come back. In Margin mode that scenario is also where the surplus is designed to land. This is not a refund from the firm, and it is not a guarantee: it depends on configuration, capital, and friction (erosion).
That sentence is the product. The same machine is also searched as a hedge copier or reverse trade copier. Everything else on this page is what the bot is not, because the query is crowded with pass-EAs, reverse-copiers across two prop accounts, and "Hedge Master" packages that trade the challenge for you and then reverse onto a live account. Those are different machines. Mixing them is how an AI overview calls a personal-broker hedge an exploit. The named competitors live in Prop Hedge vs Prop Shield vs a hedge copier.
What the bot actually does
Two terminals on one Windows machine:
- The prop evaluation (MT4 or MT5, issued by the firm).
- Your personal broker (MT4 or MT5, your capital).
You place a trade on the evaluation. Prop Firm Armour opens the opposite side on the personal account. The lot is calibrated to the fee and the cycle mode (Scaling or Margin), not copied 1:1. There is no cloud API between the two accounts. The process is local. The firm sees an ordinary evaluation. The broker sees an ordinary hedge.
How the software is wired: How PFArmour works. The event it prices: what happens at max drawdown.
Hedge bot vs trading bot vs reverse copier
| Machine | Who trades the challenge | Second account | Typical fate |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pass EA / prop firm trading bot | The bot | None, or a same-side copy | Grid, martingale, HFT, and copy-trading reviews kill a lot of these |
| Two-prop reverse | You or a bot | Another evaluation at the same firm or a second firm | The banned hedge. Account closure. |
| Same-side copier | You | Repeats the same direction | Legal on a personal broker, useless for pricing the fee |
| Prop firm hedge bot (ARMOUR) | You | Opposite lot on your personal broker, sized to the fee | The floor is the priced event. Not a refund. Not a guarantee. |
Some vendors sell a pair: a "master" EA that fires randomised entries on the challenge, plus a "live" EA that reverses onto your broker. That is a trading bot with a hedge bolted on. Prop Firm Armour does not pick EUR/USD, does not randomise risk-to-reward, and does not run a news filter for you. You already have a strategy. The bot is the other leg.
The taxonomy of every "prop firm bot" people mean: prop firm bot. Why pass-bots get accounts killed: prop firm trading bot.
Is a prop firm hedge bot allowed?
CFD firms write "no hedging" when they mean: do not open a long on one of our accounts and a short on another of our accounts. Two evaluations used as a pair. That is the cluster Google already ranks for "prop firm hedging." A hedge bot that points at your broker is not that pair. The accounts do not share a firm, a book, or a payout desk.
It is still a position. The firm can still dislike martingale, HFT, latency arb, or copy trading on the evaluation itself. Read the terms of the firm you choose. This page is not a legal opinion, and it is not a claim that every rulebook is identical. The distinction, in six sentences, is in prop firm hedging explained.
How the lot is sized
A copier asks "same lot, or a multiplier?" A hedge bot asks "what cash result do we want on the broker when the evaluation hits the floor?"
- Scaling: the opposite lot is designed so the fee comes back (or a thin surplus) at max drawdown. Less broker capital. Surplus is meant to sit at payout.
- Margin: the opposite lot is designed so surplus lands on the breach. About double the broker deposit. Payout often nets the broker loss.
Worked numbers for a $50,000 2-step, $300 fee, 10% max drawdown live on the pillar: Scaling is designed around about +$360 on the broker at the floor; Margin around +$660. Those are projections from a configured cycle. Spread, swap, slippage, commission, and failed copies (erosion) move the cash result. You still need capital sitting on the personal account.
What the bot will not do
- It will not pass the challenge for you.
- It will not refund the fee. The firm keeps it. The broker is the paying leg.
- It will not run on futures-prop platforms, cTrader-only evaluations, or anything that is not MT4/MT5 on Windows.
- It will not make a wrong, late, or under-funded hedge whole. Positions lose.
Licences start at EUR 117 (Standard) and go to EUR 197 (Pro). The conversion path is /start, where the projected broker profit on a breach is the claim as math.
