Prop firm drawdown calculator
Enter the rules of your challenge and where the account stands now. The calculator returns the room left before the daily loss limit, the room left before the max drawdown, and the equity level where the firm closes the account, in your account currency. The values below are examples and may differ from your prop firm: read the rules of the challenge you bought.
Most CFD firms check these limits on equity, so a floating loss counts. Some firms take the higher of balance and equity at the daily reset, which is why the daily base above is today's starting balance or equity, whichever your firm uses.
When the floor is hit
If the prop account hits maximum drawdown, the hedge on your own broker is sized so the challenge fee is designed to come back. In Margin mode that scenario is also where the surplus is designed to land. This is not a refund from the firm, and it is not a guarantee: it depends on configuration, capital, and friction (erosion).
The firm closes the account and keeps the fee. What a hedge on your own broker is designed to do at that line is the subject of the max drawdown guide.
How each drawdown type works
Static
The floor is a fixed percentage under the starting balance and never moves. On a $100,000 account with a 10% max loss the floor is $90,000, at the start and after any winning streak.
Trailing on balance
The floor follows the highest closed balance, always the same distance behind it. Close trades up to $106,000 and a 10% trailing floor moves to $96,000. Open profit does not raise it until the trade is closed.
Trailing on equity high water mark
Same distance, but measured from the highest equity the account has printed, open trades included. A floating peak of $106,000 moves the floor to $96,000 even if the trade later closes lower. This is the tightest of the four.
Trailing until it locks at the starting balance
The floor trails the high until it reaches the starting balance, then stops. With 10% on $100,000, once the account has reached $110,000 the floor sits at $100,000 and behaves like a static floor from there on.
The math above is the same as the calculator inside our drawdown rules article: static floor equals size times one minus the limit, trailing floor equals the highest point minus size times the limit, capped at the starting balance when the rule locks. Risk warning (UK and everywhere else). Prop Firm Armour is hedging software for informational and risk-management purposes. It is not a refund from the firm, not income advice, and not a guarantee. Trading leveraged products can lose some or all of the capital you put on the broker. Configuration, capital, and friction (erosion) decide the cash result. Read the terms of the firm you trade.
